Monday Blues

Everybody drags Monday mornings going back to work, feeling moody, sad, depressed, down, tired. For some of us that dealt with Depression and Anxiety could be a little bit harder to shake the Monday Blues.

My sister told me that her roommate back in the day had a cat that was not very friendly, didn’t get along with anybody, so she called him “Monday”, I thought that was pretty funny, because it’s true nobody is friends with Mondays. So what I am trying to say is that, It is pretty normal for people to feel down on Mondays, you had such a great weekend, sleeping in, and going back to work it is not everybody’s favorite thing, not because you don’t love your job (although some people do not like their jobs) besides that, it is a common thing, not just your depression and anxiety.

“I can feel the anxiety ramping up for the thought of the weekend is over, time to go back to work”

There is a short list of things I do to keep my spirit up and high vibration to not let my depression and anxiety stick around at the beginning of the week.

1. Meal preps.

I like to prep on Sundays what I will be eating that week, not just for Breakfast & Lunch, but also Dinner and the reason why also dinner ideas, to spend less time in the kitchen and leave enough time to do something fun, something I enjoy after work. That way you won’t be living for the weekends only, it is important to do fun stuff during work days as well.

Monday night I like to go with Frozen Pizza and Salads, easy and everybody is happy.

2. Laundry.

I know it is not a fun task, but doing laundry I can plan ahead what I will be wearing for the week, I don’t know about you, but I make my getting ready ritual pretty sacred, I like to listen to some positive content while getting ready, putting my make up on, doing my hair, and wear the outfit that makes me feel good.

Mind set it is so important for the Monday blues, and what you surround yourself with during this time, will help you improve your mood, listening to some good content. I used to listen Gabby Bernstein every morning, now I have so many other great people I listen to like Mel Robins for example.

3. Meditate/ Journal.

Get up early!! That’s right crack it dawned early, make time for success, time for your “me time”.

For me routine of meditation and journaling it is the best, start with a little gratitude, remind yourself of your blessings, write down a little to do list to get it our of your worries, and go finish with some more gratitude.

This automatically will switch your brain into a more positive outlook. Doesn’t have to take much time, try it out 5 minutes, 10 minutes, with time you will be craving it every morning and will be part of your routine.

4. Monday Play list.

Have fun creating a play list, music that really gets your mood up, and you can sing along on your way to work. This are all little things that can improve your Mondays blues, and mind set for a successful day.

5. Bring my favorite things.

Stimulate your senses with things you love, bring your favorites things to work, things you enjoy.

If you are an essential oil person, bring the fav oils, if you are allow to have a diffuser, if not bring some bracelets with lava stone, you can smell it through out the day without bothering others.

Coffee is one of my love languages and for me to bring my iced coffee with lavender and vanilla flavor just makes my morning, others prefer to buy a Starbucks, do what makes you happy.

A picture of your puppy, your kids, family, friends.

Keep it simple and practical, own your happiness and in no time Mondays won’t be a thing anymore, just another glorious day.

Then you can leave the Monday blues for my sisters roommate cat.
